Subject: [fvc-wat-announce] Two New Fair Vote Events Oct 20 and Nov 11

Hello fellow Fair Vote supporters! CAPP and Fair Vote Waterloo Region have
teamed up again to host two events this fall - a smaller one and a bigger one!
I sincerely hope you can join us! (Posters attached).

1) ELECTORAL REFORM 101
Wednesday October 20, 7 PM
Queen Street Commons Cafe (43 Queen St. S, across from The Working Centre in
downtown Kitchener)

This session is for those new to the topic of electoral reform and those more
acquainted with it who have thoughts and questions. Sean Goebey, Fair Vote
Canada National Council member, will cover:
1) Why our current system isn't working for Canadians
2) What proportional representation is, and how it would actually work in
Canada, including the "mixed" systems most often recommended for Canada

Most importantly, it's a chance to bring all your questions - general and
specific - to be answered in a small group setting!

No cost. Coffee and goodies can be purchased at the cafe.

2)PUBLIC ROUNDTABLE ON DEMOCRATIC REFORM
Thursday November 11, 7 PM
Adult Recreation Centre, 185 King Street South, Waterloo, Room 1

Guest speaker Carolyn Bennett, Opposition Critic for Democratic Reform AND Fair
Vote Canada National Council Member, will speak on the need for democratic
reform and ideas to make our democracy work better.

We will break into smaller groups at tables to share ideas about different types
of reform (including but not limited to proportional representation) based on
participants interests, and report back about our small group discussion to the
larger group.

We are capping numbers at 40 for this event to keep the groups small enough to
have a good quality of discussion. As we packed our rooms for our two spring
events, it's a good idea (but not required) to RSVP to confirm your seat.
(Anita: lanickerson at b2b2c.ca, 519-568-7655)

Please note, this is a non-partisan event. Although our Guest Speaker is a
Liberal MP (our previous speakers also had political affiliations, as do many
who are interested in Canadian democracy!) this is NOT a Liberal sponsored
event. It's an opportunity for all of us - whatever our political stripe - who
want to make our democracy work better come together to share our concerns,
passions and ideas!

There is no cost to this event. Voluntary donations in the jar are always
appreciated to offset costs. Refreshments will be provided, and as added
bonus... my cookie recipe has improved!

Feel free to email me or call me with any questions, and tell anyone you know
who might be interested! Hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Anita
