[fvc-wat-announce] Celebrate Democracy Day with Michael Chong & Patrick Boyer on Sept. 14th

Hello Friends of Fair Voting,

This year in celebration of Democracy Day, FVC -WR and APSS are very
pleased to announce an extraordinary afternoon with Michael Chong and
Patrick Boyer.  Michael Chong, Conservative MP for Wellington - Halton
Hills will join us to speak about his private members bill, The Reform Act.
The Reform Act addresses much needed parliamentary reform and goes to a
vote in the House of Commons on September 15th, the day after he speaks
with us.

Patrick Boyer, is a former Conservative MP in Brian Mulroney's government
and strong supporter of proportional representation.  Mr. Boyer is a
lawyer, author, journalist and political commentator who has recently
published, "Our Scandalous Senate" in support of Senate abolition.

Mr. Chong & Mr. Boyer will speak about parliamentary reform, Senate
abolition & proportional representation.

This exceptional afternoon will be moderated by Dr. Brian Tanquay, who is
the Political Science Chair at Laurier and co-author of the 2004 Law
Commission Report: Voting Counts.

Please join us on Sunday, September 14th, 2 - 4 pm at the Woods Building,
Room 2 -201 on Laurier's campus for this remarkable discussion.
