[fvc-wat-announce] Upcoming All Candidates Meetings

Hello FairVoting Friends,

The official start to Ontario provincial election is getting close, Monday,
May 7th!  We are pleased to be working with other community groups to
sponsor two All Candidate Meetings (ACM): Kitchener-Centre and Waterloo.

These meetings are an opportunity to have conversations with candidates and
not just hear canned answers.  Issues to be addressed are as varied as they
are important to our community and province: the environment, income
security, accessibility & inclusiveness, health care, housing and of
course, electoral reform.

It would be great to see you there! Here are the dates, times and locations:

Kitchener Centre - May 23rd, 6-8 pm, St. John the Evangelist Church, 23
Water Street North.  On bus routes 4,6 & 7.

Waterloo - May 29th, 6-8 pm, First United Church, 16 William Street West.
On bus routes 5 & 7.

The poster for the meetings is attached.  If you can, please circulate it
in your circle.

There will be many opportunities to speak with candidates during the
election.  Here is a sample of questions that you can raise on electoral
reform:

- Do you support Electoral Reform?
   - Separate your opinion from the party line.

- What is your party's platform on Electoral Reform?
    -What is your position?

-  What's the plan?
     -How do plan to work towards Proportional
Representation?

-  If your party holds the balance of power in a minority government will
you & your party make Electoral Reform a condition for forming a coalition
agreement?

We have additional questions on democratic rights: the Leaders Debate,
campaign finance, the youth vote, accountability for election promises &
democratic rights.  We will send them along when the election gets underway.
