Hi Everyone: February is a short month, so that means Discussion Night
is here sooner than I expected. We have another interesting topic to
discuss this month: MMPPR, a voting system that combines Preferential
Voting with Mixed Member Proportional, presented by Gordon Nicholls.

*What*: Discussion Night
*When*: Wednesday, 28 February 2018 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm
*Where*: Community Meeting Room, Bread & Roses Co-op
*Location*: 307 Queen Street South, Kitchener
*Map*: https://osm.org/go/ZXnwTLMg--?m=

Gordon will explain the problems he sees with other proposed voting
systems, and will show how MMPPR overcomes them. We'll get sample
ballots, and hold an election simulation!

You can read Gordon's paper: A compromise proposal for a Canadian
electoral system that would retain all current ridings (49 kBytes,
MS-Word document):

PARKING:

If you're driving to Discussion Night at Bread And Roses, place a note
on the dashboard of your vehicle:

*Meeting in Community Room re: Apt 107 from 7-9pm*

and park in the north lot, on the other side of the Morrison-Reist
building (Map: https://osm.org/go/ZXnwTL0rw--?m= )

And next month we're going to plan our summer activities:

*What*: Spring 2018 Planning Meeting
*When*: Sunday, 18 March 2018 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm
*Where*: Sharon Sommerville's house
*Location*: 34 Aberdeen Road, Kitchener, Ontario
*Map*: https://osm.org/go/ZXna5Tv0--?m=

At which festivals and events will we put up an info table? What
public events can we put on? Should we host All-Candidates meetings
for the provincial election? Join us, and gives us your input!
