I'll respond to these in order:

0. It's on the FVC calendar of events:
http://fairvotecanada.org/calendar_of_events. So I think we can
reasonably assume that it's okay to put on our website. I don't know
whether it's open or not.

1. I didn't hear this discussion, but it sounds like a great idea :) I
agree that we need to have events in Kitchener, Cambridge, and UW,
although simultaneity may be somewhat difficult.

2. There were letters to the editor covering the referendum threshold on
each of the two days before mine appeared. I have a digital copy of my
letter (and a hard copy), although we would have to ask The Record
nicely if we could post it on our website. Or is this even the goal? Is
it okay to just have information on where and when the letter / articles
were published.

3. I will be giving a presentation to the NDP Riding Association in
Goderich, ON. I would not consider this "local", but it is a good
opportunity nonetheless, and we are apparently the closest chapter to
them. I'll have to pester Larry Gordon (FVC executive director) some
more so that he actually adds it to the online events calendar.

I'll probably be circulating my slides for comment soon.

Cheers,

        0. As you saw in Shannon's e-mail to the list, Larry Gordon is
coming to speak to the Elementary Teachers of Waterloo Region
Representative Council on November 16. I don't know whether this is open
to the public/FVC members. Is it?
If it is not an open meeting, should we put it on our website?

        1. After Prof. Williams' talk a bunch of us were talking about
outreach and future events. One idea is to have "Movie nights" where we
show (selected?) videos from the plenary sessions.

I think we can arrange some movie nights on the UW campus, but
it's important that we have off-campus events as well. Is there interest
in maybe having parallel movie nights in different areas of the region?
I
am thinking: UW, downtown Kitchener, Cambridge. Would anybody be willing
to help organize this?

        2. I have added a few pages to the Waterloo Region website:
http://www.fairvotecanada.org/wat_possible_activities
http://www.fairvotecanada.org/wat_local_media_coverage

The first page is a transcription from Craig's AGM notes last
April. The second wants to be a listing of all the media coverage about
fair voting in the region -- both positive and negative.

I need your help. Does anybody have articles and/or citations
for
articles that we can add to this list? I know about Derek's letter to
the
editor and the editorial last Saturday, and will be adding them to the
archive next week.

Has anybody been keeping a clipping archive? If so, maybe we
could
make photocopies of those articles so that the chapter has a collection.

        3. Derek suggested that we take our talks to the people instead
of
hoping the people will come to our talks. Following Larry and Shannon's
lead, we can make field trips to neighbourhood associations and other
community groups to make FVC presentations. Who wants to help with this?
I think the first steps are to have some trainings, polish our
presentation skills and speaking points, and then make some connections
and infiltrate the region.
