I'll buy one of the maps.

Hi everyone,

I am following up on some of the e-mails circulated during the past
couple
of days. I definitely think we should purchase the maps of our
ridings
available from Elections Canada. Rick already volunteered to purchase
one
of the maps, and I am volunteering now to purchase a map as well. Any
takers on the other two maps?

Secondly, I agree with Kevin that we need a physical headquarters to
run an
effective campaign. However, I think Sean's point is well taken that
the
greatest need for headquarters will be in September and October. I
have
contact with a lot of people who might know a suitable place through my
work
for the Region of Waterloo at Sunnyside Home. I will ask around and
see if
I can find some space for the fall.

Paul had sent an e-mail earlier in the week asking if Derek should
still be
the media contact for the chapter. I think that the media contact
should be
one of the new co-chairs. I also think we are more likely to get
interest
from the media if Brian is the contact since he is associated with the
university. Brian, would you be willing to fill that role?

Finally, I will be on the other side of the province this week and
won't be
available to help with nomination meetings until after May 7 when I
return
from my holiday. I do think that covering the meetings is a good way
to get
our message out, so thanks so much Paul for all of your work to try to
organize us in that regard.

Have a great week everybody,

Angela

For the Headquarters might I suggest using someone's basement/rec
room/office/garage/something else for the time being. For the bulk of
the
summer we can try running the campaign through a "virtual office"
rather
than a physical one.

Also, I think maps are a great ida - we should definitely get those. Do
we
know if these are also available in PDF form (I could see us using both
the
electronic and physical ones for different things)?

I can do that, Paul - no problem. If you can send me the contact
information, I'd be happy to give these folks a shout.

We've been rejected for the Liberal nomination meeting on
Sunday.
The official excuse was that they are not allowing outside groups to
set
up displays.

I think e-mail is a poor way to get people to let us go to
nomination meetings. Unfortunately I do not have a phone number where
people can call me back. Could somebody (or somebodies) with a phone
please volunteer to make some phone calls to these riding presidents?

Hi folks:

I was wondering for this campaign if we could find a space that we
could use as a headquarters. It would be great to have a place where
we can distribute flyers, maps, etc. to people, and keep track of how
things are going. A place to hang out, and to generate excitement
around the campaign.

Any ideas?

Kevin.

Apr. 27, 2007

Hello Paul,

I've heard back from Elections Canada www.elections.ca about obtaining
maps
of
the four electoral districts that we are concerned with: Kitchener
Centre,
Kitchener-Waterloo, Kitchener-Conestoga and Cambridge.

The best hard-copy maps come in sets for each electoral district.
They
include, as I understand, individual maps of each polling division
within a
given electoral district that are highly detailed with roads, streets
etc.
The
cost for each complete set for each electoral district is $15.00 plus
tax,
bringing the cost to $60.00 plus tax for all four districts.

Within the context of having some sort of headquarters, I believe these
maps
would be essential to the effectiveness of our campaign. Canvassers
and
distribution of literature could be strategically allocated, dispatched
and
recorded.

I, personally, am willing to bear the the cost of purchasing a set of
maps
for
one electoral district. Anyone else?

I am not aware that these maps are available electronically. I, also,
will
be
on the lookout for potential headquarters sites.

Peace

Rick
