Hi all,

I have asked if we could meet them at the printers to get our 80 signs
straight away. I am planning to install as many signs as I can on Thursday
afternoon with Tracey, and I will go with Angela on Thursday evening to
install yet more signs.

Cheers,

Dear Riding Captains and Regional Coordinators

This is the second email I am sending on this topic (the first one is set
out below).

*If you did not receive our first email, please respond ASAP to the offer
set out in our first email (below). SEND YOUR RESPONSE TO GARY SHAUL
(COPIED HERE).*

*The response in 24 hours has been wonderful – about 50 ridings have replied
requesting 800 signs*. We will have no problem in finding a "market" for all
1000.

As I type this, the printing presses are starting to roll, and the signs
will be ready sometime tomorrow.

We plan to move them late Wednesday or early Thursday to 3 depots in Toronto
(west, centre, east) for people to pick them up (*we'll email you tomorrow
about the exact locations and the phone number of the person "minding" the
signs in each depot*). For the other signs, we will arrange for 3 vans to
head west, north and east (hopefully, on Thursday) to deliver them to the
ridings or meet the riding rep somewhere to transfer the signs to them.

Set out below (email no. 1) are specifications about what supplies and tools
you will need to get. I want to mention here that *the stakes you need *(as
well as being 5 feet long and pointed) *should be 1 by 2 inch in size. And,
if you can get an iron bar to pound into the ground first to create a
"beginning" hole, your job will be easier.*

My thanks to Gary Shaul who is doing a wonderful job of dealing with the
printer, responding to all of your emails, and figuring out the logistic s
of this "little project".

Cheers

*First Email Sent Monday, October 1*

Dave Scrymgeour, head of field support, has had to leave the campaign. Gary
Shaul and I have volunteered to "pinch hit" for the remainder of the
Campaign to assist/support your efforts in the field, where the grassroots
campaign grows in strength every day.

We will send an email tomorrow on other ways to get your message out, but
our focus in this email is getting large MMP signs, paid for by the
provincial campaign, into your hands as soon as possible.

Today, we ordered 1000 large signs (48" x 30"), two-sided, for putting up in
public places (not on private lawns unless they're on a busy road). They
should be put up where the most people will see them, day after day.

They will be ready sometime on Wednesday when we will take them to 3 depots
in Toronto (west, centre, east, locations TBD) for easier pick-up.

We can get them into your hands in one of two ways:

(1) *you send someone to **Toronto* late Wednesday or (more likely)
Thursday to pick them up

(2) if you cannot do that, we will find a way to have them delivered to
you (we're looking at buses or vans to depart Toronto on Thursday)

*In order to install these signs, you need: *

*Supplies *- the central campaign will reimburse you for wooden stakes with
receipt

(1) two 5 foot long pointed stakes for each sign – *put them in the ground
first, then screw the signs on the stakes*

(2) hardware: screws, washers *(heavy duty staplers won't do it)*

(3) tools: electric screwdriver and mallet, sledgehammer or axe to bang in
the stakes

*Locations*

(1) locations vary from community to community - high traffic is key

(2) do not put signs on private property without permission

*Sign crew volunteers*

organize volunteers to put them up ASAP – Thursday night or Friday night or
Saturday morning.

*We need to know from each of you how many signs you could use* . There are
about 70 ridings (ex Ottawa, which has enough signs) which have riding
captains or active Regional Coordinators. If everyone wanted their share,
each riding could have 14 signs. Since not all will have the capacity to
make use of this order, however, we'll offer 20 signs for each riding that
wants them. And, if we run out, we run out. Better to have a few ridings
without signs than many signs without ridings.

*So, please contact **Gary Shaul** ASAP by email ( garyshaul at gmail.com) and
copy me with the following info:*

*Your name*

*Phone Number*

*Name of Riding(s)*

*Number of Signs (up to 20 per riding) you could use*

*Either now, or soon if you don't know yet, tell us whether you could pick
them up, can meet our truck along the way or are able to relay them to other
ridings along the way.*

*Let's show **Ontario** that MMP strength is spreading every day and
everywhere!*

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Cheers
