[fvc-wat-disc] (Canvassing on Tuesday & Wednesday?)Fwd: 10/4 - Vote for MMP Update - MORE JANES, FEWER DICKS

Hi all,

I don't know if you actually read these thoroughly enough to see the little
gem buried halfway through this one. Apparently the blackout period applies
only to paid advertisements. So we may yet be able to campaign on Tuesday
and possibly Wednesday.

Cheers,
Derek

p.s., we got 36 signs up today (Tracy and Angela and I) and Paul and Adam
got a bunch up also. Look for the new signs when you're driving around
tomorrow.

days of the campaign!

*POSITIVE FEEDBACK OF THE DAY:*

After her grandfather sent her an anti-MMP email, Lindsay wrote back the
following (and copied us):

*"Hi Grandpa, Thanks for the info., but I have decided to vote for the MMP
system. I have always hated the way we vote in Canada and this system seems
to make a lot of sense. I agree that there is a pitfall with the 'list',
however the advantages for me far outway the disadvantages. With this new
system everyones vote will truly matter and it will matter equally! I am
excited about the MMP system and hope that everyone takes the time to read
up on this important issue - no matter how they decide to vote. Thanks
again! I love you a lot, Linds"*

*MORE JANES, FEWER DICKS:*

Equal Voice held a press conference today and Nancy White sang her "More
Women (In the Legislature)" song. And did the media show?* "Of course. We
were a bunch of girls in tight pink dress and Marilyn Monroe wigs."* - Kael

*WHAT OTHER GROUPS ARE DOING:*

Meanwhile, Josh Matlow (Liberal) and Patrick Boyer (Conservative) put out
the following release: *"Bi-partisan campaign to ask Ontario voters to
choose Mixed Member Proportional (MMP)" *and the Asian Canadian Labour
Alliance and the Chinese Canadian National Council, Toronto Chapter held
their press conference yesterday. Joseph Wong, Susan Eng, Winnie Ng and
Jenny Ahn announced that electoral reform was integral to address the needs
of the Chinese Canadian community and they recommend support for MMP:

*QUOTE OF THE DAY:*

*"It's time that all political parties in Ontario take the issue of
representation of racial minorities seriously*", states Jenny Ahn,
Co-President of the Asian Canadian Labour Alliance.* "For too long they have
ignored our voices; MMP will provide us with the opportunity to hold
politicians accountable both through direct democracy as well as challenging
who political parties choose as candidates on their 'party slates'".*
