To Liberal members of ERRE,

Thank you for all the diligent work you and your colleagues have done to
investigate the subject of electoral reform for Canada.

It was disturbing to hear the Prime Minister say last week that he's not
sure if Canadians still care about electoral reform.

I assure you many of us do, and we are eagerly awaiting your committee's
recommendation.

Town halls across the country were packed; here in Kitchener-Waterloo we
had 300 people out on a hot summer evening, with all our MPs and Minister
Monsef in attendance.

Overwhelmingly, citizens here and across Canada expressed a preference for
*Proportional Representation*.  Whether "MMP" or "STV", or variations on
these, wasn't important - as long as the distribution of parties' seats in
Parliament approximately reflects the popular vote.  This is key, for
elections to be perceived as fair by voters.

I urge you to listen to the citizens who came out to your meetings, as well
as to the majority of your expert witnesses - and make a recommendation for
a proportional representation form of voting system to be implemented in
the 2019 federal election.
