Yes, Unfortunately we have to pay postage for letters to MPPs.

But I found out another interesting thing: You can get a tax credit for
donations to Ontario political parties, no matter how low your income is.

I am tired of getting no credit for my *federal* political contributions,
cuz the credit can only offset the tax you owe ("non-refundable tax
credit").  I complained to the NDP for telling their supporters that
they'll get a credit, when they know that many of us won't get it.  It
means that if I donate $100 to the federal party it costs me $100, but if
an average-income person donates $100 it costs them $25.  Making a donation
under these conditions "feels shitty" I told them.

Then Scott Piatkowski replied that the NDP keeps calling for the federal
political tax credit to be made refundable - so far without success.  BUT
he told me the Ontario political tax credit IS refundable!  I never knew
that.

So if you were planning on a donation to a party in the Ont election, do it
before Dec 31 and you'll get most of it back at tax time - just in time to
donate it again for the June election.
