[fvc-wat-disc] [fvc-wat-announce] Let's Give Minister Gould Numbers From Waterloo Region

Hello,

I sent Bardish Chagger an email about electoral reform on October 20th. It took her over two months (Dec. 23rd) to answer me, even though the answer was basically a regurgitation of talking points. I have also duly filled out every “send us your feedback” thing that’s landed in my mailbox (maybe 3 or 4 of these), though I’m pretty sure at least one of these went to Trudeau or some other francophone instead of Chagger, since I clearly recall writing in French.

Hope this helps,

Martha Lauzon

Subject: [fvc-wat-announce] Let's Give Minister Gould Numbers From Waterloo Region

Good Morning and Happy Friday FairVoting Friends,

Karina Gould, MP for Burlington recently became the Minister of Democratic Institutions. We have sent her a congratulatory letter of welcome and are looking forward to
her approach to building a new electoral system for Canada.

As we know the Liberals are the party of evidence based policy making. We would like to make sure that Minister Gould has the numbers on how many citizens have contacted their MP about electoral reform since the election and we need your help. We think it is important to make sure the new minister knows how many people in Waterloo Region care about real change for our electoral system.

If you have any kind of contact: sent an email or letter, made a telephone call, had a chance encounter or met with any Liberal MP in Waterloo Region and raised electoral reform, could you let us know? We would also be interested in knowing if you tried to book an appointment but were unable to finalize a meeting. We are looking for the name of the MP, date (more or less) and the type of contact ie. telephone conversation, chance encounter at a summer festival etc..

Our government has been consistently saying that everyday Canadians don't care about a fair electoral system. The Liberal caucus will be making its decision about electoral reform in February so letting Minister Gould know how many people care about fair representation is important. If you have contacted your MP in anyway or spoken with any MP about electoral reform we hope to hear from you soon!

With thanks,
Sharon Sommerville
for FVC-WR
