Hi, Everyone
I am forwarding this email from Anita, with information on attending a webinar on the topic of referendums.
I am suggesting that we attend this webinar, and include this topic in our next Zoom Discussion Group meeting.
Since the meeting date falls on the 30th, between Christmas and New Years,
Please let me know whether you are available on this date, or
ReSchedule the meeting for the following Wednesday, Jan. 6.

Also on the agenda for our next meeting is to discuss Peter KH's idea that we organize a Zoom meeting for all social organizations (many of them are members of the Civic Hub) to talk about how all our causes might benefit from electoral reform.

PLEASE ATTEND THE WEBINAR IF YOU CAN and
LET ME KNOW ABOUT YOUR DATE PREFERENCE.

Cathy

Hey everyone.

I'm doing a webinar on referendums on Sunday 13th at 7 PM Eastern if you want to join.

I'll give you a heads up that it's a bummer - not the kind of webinar I want to do so I've been procrastinating a bit. But nothing compared to the kind of heartbreak you get when the results come in and you really thought this time would be different...and the consequences of a lost referendum.

Since last year I've been looking at some of the research, and just like other topics everyone on our core team needs to know basic info on - PR 101, about AV, about CAs - this seemed to me like necessary info.

It is a bit of a longer presentation (takes about 40 minutes for me to walk through it and as it's the first time you'll see me looking at my notes...).

I'm going to be joined for the Q+A by Professor Lawrence Leduc, who's an expert in referendums, citizens' assemblies and electoral reform.

At 8:30 PM we'll be repeating the webinar in French, this time led by Gisela, with Jean-Sébastien Dufresne, who is on our board, joining her for Q+A.

On a happier note, next winter or spring we'll be doing another on the power of Citizens' Assemblies! I wanted to be able to offer both together as a series (the dark side and light side :) but it didn't work out that way since I'm still chasing a new guest speaker on CAs.
