Hi everyone. In addition to all the amazing activities the Fair Vote Waterloo Region chapter and other local groups are planning for Democracy Week (schedule coming soon!), Fair Vote Canada is also having supporters deliver the petitions for PR we collected on Canada Day to MPs, and inviting supporters around the country to have Democracy Dinner Parties. If you're not on the national mailing list, see below...

            Many of you have told us that opportunities to talk to friends and neighbours about why electoral reform is important and meeting Fair Vote Canada supporters in your area are important to you. 

            In the recent vote on action ideas submitted by supporters, hosting a Fair Vote Canada Dinner Party was voted the #1 idea for Democracy Week. So here’s your chance! 

            During Democracy Week 2012,  September 15 - 22, 2012, invite others to Dine for Democracy!

            Email Anita at anita.nickerson at fairvote.ca to sign up, for more information, and a host package. 

            Your dinner gathering can help introduce someone new to proportional representation, bring together Fair Vote supporters in your area, or both! You might choose to:

            1) Keep your dinner invitations private, inviting family, friends and acquaintances

            2) Let us advertise your gathering to the Fair Vote Canada supporters in your area, and have your dinner party listed on our Democracy Week Dinner Events page so those who want to attend a dinner can find you, and we can see the list of events across Canada grow! Guests will be asked to RSVP you if they plan to attend. You set the number of guests. A full dinner party could encourage others in your area to host their own. 

            Dinner can be as simple as ordering pizza, recruit some friends to cook, or make it potluck. A gathering may be the starting block of a local team!

            When you sign up, a host package will be emailed to you, including optional presentation ideas to introduce new people to proportional representation. The idea is not to provide a lengthy presentation, but to get people together to share food, have fun, and talk about electoral reform and democracy. 

            Let’s work together to reach friends, neighbours and the public about the need for electoral reform, and connect supporters so we can become a strong voice for change in our communities.
