[fvc-wat-announce] Yesterday's visit with Marwan Tabbara, Liberal MP for Kitchener-South Hespeler

Hello FairVoting Friends,

Yesterday, FVC-WR visited Marwan Tabbara, MP for Kitchener-South Hespeler.
We had an excellent discussion about the strengths of proportional
representation and the issues with Alternative Vote (similar to FPTP but
with ranked ballots).  Marwan listened respectfully and asked intelligent
questions.  We greatly appreciated his openness to proportional
representation and his willingness to research all electoral systems to
determine the best electoral system for Canada.  The overwhelming evidence
is in support of proportional representation so if the decision on what to
replace FPTP is made based on evidence then 2019 will be our first fair
election in 157 years!

It was also clear to us in our conversation with both Raj and Marwan that
MPs need to hear from their constituents about which issues are important
to them.  A quick email, phone call or better yet a visit from constituents
can make all the difference in letting our MPs know that proportional
representation is key to fair elections and a parliament that works for all
Canadians.
