For $1000 I'm skeptical about buying newspaper ads... as long as they're
willing to print letters to the editor, I think those letters are going to
be a lot more effective than a few tiny ads (from what I recall they can be
REALLY expensive...)

I'm not entirely sure what you have on the ground in KW (I'm a little ways
out of town right now), but two things that come to my mind are "Door
Knockers" (those little flyers with a loop on the top so you can hang them
around people's door knobs) or some colour 11 x 17 paper printouts of the
"Yes MMP" signs that people can tape up in their windows at home or in a
storefront window.

Those are my thoughts - keep up the good work!
