[fvc-wat-disc] Fwd: Large MMP Signs for Your Local Campaign

I see there have been lots of volunteers already, but I'm available to
pick up sign Wednesday after work. I've got previous sign-picking-up
experience, I'm halfway there already, AND I know where the MMP office
is :-)

Let me know what gets decided.

Hi all,

The plans for large signs have changed. Apparently the provincial
campaign has gone ahead and ordered 1000 large signs, and I have asked
for 80 of these (since the limit is 20 per riding and we have four).
I've already replied to the above email.

So, this affects our plans in two ways:
1. We now have $1000 more to spend than we had originally thought.
This is a good thing rather than a bad thing, so let's everyone put on
their thinking caps and think of ways to do this creatively and
effectively.

2. We will have 80 signs. These signs don't come with stakes. They
also don't come with sledgehammers, or a knowledge of the regional
bylaws regarding the use of election signs. We need to organize to get
these signs up pronto.

Regional Bylaws:

This is what we need:

160 - five foot long pointed stakes; two for each sign. Will someone
with a car purchase these? You will be reimbursed if you keep the
receipt.

Teams to get ALL these signs up on Thursday afternoon / evening and
Friday afternoon / evening. Those with cars who can drive and those
without cars who can drive stakes into the ground should pair up. Each
team will need (1) staple gun with staples or heavy-duty screwdriver
with screws and (2) a sledgehammer to drive the stakes into the
ground.

We will also need one person who can drive to Toronto to get our signs
on Wednesday evening. They will fill the back of your car. By my
estimation, the dimensions will be three feet by four feet by three
feet (3x4x3). Contact me for more information if you can do this.

One last note, if nobody can go canvassing malls with Tracey on
Thursday afternoon, then perhaps I will suggest to her that she can be
my driver, and that we can go around putting up large signs. I'm
willing to take an afternoon off for this.

Please reply to this email if you have any of the supplies mentioned
above (sledgehammers and staple guns especially) or can volunteer time
(and when that time is) to either drive or drive stakes.

Thanks everyone!

Hi Gary,

This is Derek Kraan. My phone number is: 519-342-5345. I'm
representing the regional campaign for Waterloo Region. We have 4
ridings (Kitchener-Waterloo, Kitchener-Centre, Cambridge and
Kitchener-Conestoga) to take care of, and we will be able to use the
full 80 signs.

I'm pretty sure that we can pick them up in Toronto, but I'm not sure
about the details yet.

Cheers,

Derek Kraan
