[fvc-wat-disc] A great article in today's Record by Luisa D'Amato

:) What a great article!

I've submitted this letter (together with my address and telephone number):

*Dear Editor,*

*Thanks for publishing D'Amato's impassioned "Voting reform activists won’t
quit" column! It's so refreshing to read something on this topic other than
Liberal talking points. The party won't admit it, but D'Amato tells it like
it is: our current first-past-the-post system pushes people away from
voting. Because we know that our votes only count if we live in the right
place and vote for the right candidate.*

*We elect political leaders that don't represent the proportional will of
Canadian citizens. They represent the skewed results of a handful of
winner-take-all "battles". And then these leaders wonder why we're so
cynical of politics? The real solution is to use a fair voting system, and
give a political voice to every Canadian.*

*We may no longer have PM Trudeau's support for electoral reform, but we'll
find a path forward anyways. We'll educate our peers and collect signatures
and show our MPs that consensus is here. We have history, data, and the
most effective democracies of the world on our side, and we won't quit.*
