Hello Fair Voters.
This is a follow up to our earlier email.  This Fall we want to pick upour outreach strategy to build awareness of and allies on the issue ofproportional representation (PR) in the community.  You may recall that last Spring Cathy Scottand I asked for contact names for organizations with a focus on incomeinequality.  This resulted in presentationsto three organizations (with a fourth pending). A commitment from another two to distribute information on PR to their members and an interest from four to be contacted on our activity inthe future.  Finally, we are having joint meetings with the Council of Canadians local chapter!  So, not a bad start.   As a reminder, our strategy proposesto approach over time key organizations, groups and individuals in ourcommunity which share like interests to ourselves.  We know that in countries with PR, there isless income inequality, women are better represented in government, action onthe climate is greater and so on.  Our goals are to: * create awareness of FVC-Wat *offer an opportunity to be furthereducated about the issue, and
* invite endorsement of our workwith an invitation to engage or join with us in the future Given our resources we have chosento focus on one area at a time.  We wantto contact those with an interest in the area we identify, ideally somecommunity profile and with the potential for outreach themselves. We want to bestrategic and also keep the numbers manageable given our resources and so maximizethe impact of our efforts. We send the targeted groups a letteror email.  In our brief communication we: * describe who we are & ourgoals* talk succinctly about the benefitsto good policy of a PR system* speak briefly and specifically tothe area of interest of the group or individual* articulate our asks (endorsement;opportunity to learn more about PR; invitation to join with us in our work)* provide contact name (s) forfollow-up. WE REALLY NEED YOUR INPUT!  We now want to approach social action or justicecommittees within the faith community (incl local churches).  Do you know of such a group?  Perhaps at your own church or faith group?  If you are aware of one, please let usknow.  We will need the name of theindividual/group/church/faith community; mailing address (if possible); contactname to whom we direct the correspondence/email (very important). Thank you in advance!
