I don’t know why I didn’t know about this. I’ve heard him speak before and Alice and I have read his books.
Lives in Princeton where I lived for about 14 years.
Anyway, thanks for the things you sent.

Subject: [fvc-wat-announce] If you missed Chris Hedges speak at CIGI

Good Morning FairVoters,

On Wednesday night, Chris Hedges spoke at CIGI in Waterloo. Hedges is an American journalist & author who reported on the Middle East for the New York Times for 15 years, is an ordained Presbyterian minister (Harvard Divinity School) and has taught at Columbia, Princeton and UoT. He teaches in prisons in New Jersey and has been influenced by the teachings & work of Dorothy Day who co-founded the Catholic Worker Movement.

His talk addressed the foundation of the current political, social and economic situation in the US and the direction that the US is heading. His views are an insightful & powerful analysis of the state of democracy in the US and have great relevance to Canada. Should you be interested, here is the link to the video of Mr. Hedges talk:

if you don't have time to watch the video, MacLean's published an interview with him this week. Here is the link to that article:
