I stand by the name I've suggested:  Hungry Hungry Hippos.  It's a more accurate comparison than a horse race in many, many ways.  Granted, I'm not sure the game is still being produced so it may not be a familiar enough reference to make it understood but if it is I'm sure we could gain traction with it.  I bet the folks at "This Hours Has 22 Minutes" would have fun with it.

The official (political science-y) name for the system is 'single member plurality', if we forgot to mention that.  But yes, if they can create a new name every time people figure out that Alternative Vote doesn't do what we want, I see no reason why we can't create new names for what we have.

How's One Party per Riding?  On the BC discussion list, so many are coming to the conclusion that the geographical representative we all think we care about so much is totally useless since they toe the party line on everything and no matter where your geography is located the party line remains the same.  For instance, Federal Liberal MPs in BC--NOT standing up for BCs coast, NOT taking First Nation concerns into the discussion, etc.  So, let's take the representative out of our name.

That name makes it sound like there is some marker there and it's a race to pass it.  Like, first past 30% wins.  But, there is no post at all, nothing that can be determined even knowing the number of candidates.  Shouldn't it be called something like "Plurality Voting" or "Plurality Takes All" or something more descriptive? Thanks in advance for the education!
