[fvc-wat-disc] Discussion Night and Exec Meeting, 7pm on Wed 30 Jan 2019 at Bread&Roses

Hi everyone. I'm on the AGM Committee, and I DID make that suggestion.
The issue is the travel from Pearson to University of Waterloo or
wherever. As we know, that is travel on the 401 which is hit and miss at
best AND means renting a car or arranging for several buses/taxi's that
come out of the FVC budget mostly. Further, there is always the idea that
we want politicians there, and it is too far to go for, say, Elizabeth May
and Jagmeet Singh from Ottawa, and certainly from BC. We also tried
Toronto. The less said about the reaction on that one, the better. The
only one besides Anita that I was pretty sure would have been in favour is
Bruce Hyer, and he has his own plane and we have an airport. That isn't
enough to sway Council. Anita and I don't get a vote.
Ottawa has been locked down now.
If you want to do that next year though, let's work it up before January so
we have venue, accommodations, wifi and associated technology, restaurants,
etc. all ready to go at least. Probably will be in a province other than
Ontario (that is our goal although we keep ending up in Ottawa because it
is just more central and where the politicians are--read cheaper, frankly)
but we can show we can do it, which is something!
