[fvc-wat-disc] LOOKING FOR ALLIES

I have looked over the several lists of groups that we have including the ones contacted four years ago.
There wasn’t a clear indication of any of the individual responses aside from the four that apparently received a presentation.
I must admit I have no real contacts in any of them or a good idea of their level of activity or accomplishments.
As a start, I think all of the original list look like good possibilities.
Some other churches tend to be active in community causes such as Rockway Mennonite Church, Parkminster United Church, First United Church, Emmanuel United Church, Unitarian Environmental Group, and likely Interfaith Grand River.
Environmental groups like People’s Climate Foundation, Waterloo Region Environmental Network and Climate Save are likely good possibilities.
Community groups working on housing, neighbourhood development, crime prevention, minimum wage, poverty, Peace, Reception House, would likely be good possibilities.
If any of you have closer contacts with any of these groups or any other groups, please do add them.
It may be necessary to narrow the list somewhat but I don’t think a zoom meeting of several dozen reps is really a problem.

Subject: [fvc-wat-disc] LOOKING FOR ALLIES

We are looking for potential allies with whom to partner.

As we know, countries which have proportional electoral systems enjoy greater participation in their politics & elections, greater diversity in their representation, lower inequality, and greater progress in addressing climate change.

At our January chapter meeting we decided as a first step to arrange a meeting with a number of groups & organizations in our community to learn about one another, to share our vision & goals and explore how we can work together to support one another's interests.  Issues such as inequality, racism, climate change, electoral reform are interconnected.  You really cannot address one without the other.

Our plan is to start modestly.  We are asking you to identify for us those key groups which you feel share our values and with whom we should partner in pushing forward our shared agendas.

If you could send me your "leads" with contact information by February 8th,

Thank you in advance.

David Dirks
