In addition to the information nights being held on the second Tuesday
of every month (Hey! That's tonight!), we have also organized monthly
meetings to be held on the *fourth* Tuesday of each month. April 24 will
be the date of our first meeting, and it will be a pretty important one --
we'll be holding the chapter's Annual General Meeting (AGM) then. At the
AGM, we'll be:

   - Making a short statement about the chapter's finances (very short,
     it appears)

   - Nominating and electing five to seven dedicated chapter members to
on the chapter executive. If we have more candidates than spots,
we'll hold an election using a transferable vote.

   - Summarizing our activities over the past year.

   - Planning for the upcoming chapter activities.

If you have been thinking of volunteering in the upcoming referendum
campaign, this is an excellent opportunity to get involved. In order
to vote for the executive (or run for the executive!) you need to be a
member of the chapter, which means:
   - You are a member of the national organization in good standing
   - You live in Waterloo region
   - You are willing to be a member

If you have some energy and dedication to making the referendum campaign a
success, maybe you should run for the chapter executive. The chapter could
really use some people with the time and leadership skills to keep our
referendum activities rolling.

New memberships cost $10 for a year. Renewed memberships are a bit
more expensive ($25, I think) -- but with the Ontario referendum quickly
approaching, Fair Vote Canada can certainly put that money to good
use. You will be able to get a new membership or renew your membership
at the AGM. Note that last year's AGM was held on April 18 2006, so if
you bought a membership then you will want to renew it to vote at this
AGM. (Sorry.)

You are also welcome to attend the AGM if you do not intend to become
a formal member of the chapter -- you are still welcome to take on
several of the many jobs that will help make our local referendum efforts
a success. Here are some of them:
   - Door to door outreach and flyering
   - Outreach to community groups to set up information sessions
   - Being present to spread the word at the many festivals and gatherings
     being held this summer
   - Watching the newspapers, television news and other media for
     coverage of the referendum
   - Writing letters to the editor and other articles in support of the
     campaign
   - Fundraising
   - Being part of the Speaker's Bureau, and delivering talks to
     interested parties
   - Designing posters and other visual to advertise our activities
   - Publicising the campaign and the chapter's activities via press
     releases, e-mail announcements, etc.

You can volunteer for these jobs now, or come to the AGM for more
information.

As with Information Nights, our volunteer meetings will be held at
the Faculty of Social Work building:

Lyle S. Hallman Faculty of Social Work
120 Duke Street W
(At College street, behind Kitchener City Hall)
Kitchener

Maps and parking directions are available on our website:
http://www.fairvotecanada.org/WaterlooRegion

Bicycle parking is available onsite, and the building is a short walk from
the Kitchener transit terminal.
