Hello Fair Vote Canada Waterloo supporters!

I hope you will all join us for our next event, "Electoral Reform in Canada: Where Do We Go From Here?" with Dennis Pilon (Poster copied below and attached).

Where: Lyle S. Hallman School of Social Work Auditorium
When: Thursday March 22, 7 PM

Dennis's talk will be followed by Q+A and discussion. Free, everyone welcome, refreshments provided!

Dennis Pilon was one of the founders of Fair Vote Canada, has just moved back to Ontario from British Columbia, and we are fortunate to have him coming to talk to us in Kitchener-Waterloo. I believe some folks from Fair Vote Canada Toronto, including Fair Vote Canada's Executive Director, will be joining us.

Dennis will be addressing two questions that are key for those of us committed to achieving a vote that counts:

1) What lessons have we learned from efforts to reform Canada's voting system over the last ten years?
2) What does the movement for proportional representation need to do to succeed in future?

About Dennis:

His research has focused primarily on issues of democratization and democratic reform in western countries in both contemporary and historical contexts. In 2007 he published The Politics of Voting: Reforming Canada's Electoral System.

Over the past decade, Professor Pilon has done considerable public speaking and media work commenting on many aspects of politics with reporters from print, radio and television, particularly on topics relating to elections and political parties. He is presently a member of the National Advisory Board of Fair Vote Canada, a citizens' group focused on gaining more proportional methods of voting for Canadian elections. He has also acted as a consultant on election issues for various legal firms, political parties, trade unions, community groups, and the Auditor General of Canada.

You can watch Dennis advocating for proportional representation during the British Columbia referendum on youtube:

Hope to see many of you, and thank you for being a supporter of Fair Vote Canada Waterloo!
