A great selection of letters in The Record today and yours leads the democratic way, Angela.

Hats off to all!

Thanks for your offer to take up the cause from a legal perspective, Neil. However, it is too late for us to implement that plan since the city waited until the 11th hour to cancel my appearance as a delegation and I'm sure we can't pull a legal response together in time for them to reconsider before the meeting tomorrow evening. I have decided for certain that I will respond to their decision with a symbolic gesture and will be in the downtown Kitchener area from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night handing out literature on the street. I had planned to devote that time to attending the council meeting, so I might as well do something for the campaign in that time. Although they have tried to silence our call for public education on the issue, I won't let them silence us because I will take the message to the street. As far as I know, I still have freedom of speech on the sidewalk. Please correct me if I am wrong.

  Angela

  HI All,

We had about 60-70 people at the Market today. We managed to dispel a bit of the fear-mongering out there and actually explain the situation. One common response we are getting to asking people if they'd like to learn about the referendum is that they've already voted. Eitherway, we did have some success.

Donna, on a side note here, would you be able to get the clerk to put the city's refusal into a letter, stating the judicial reasoning (aka the name of the case) they are relying upon. I'd be happy to take a look at it if time permits. When is the meeting? Monday night I imagine? Often times cases like these are qualified, and we may be able to find an angle to allow us to get in to this meeting. It shouldn't be to our detriment that the NoMMP side is a no show, right? So long as the NoMMP side has notice, I don't really understand why we should be barred from speaking. Let me know if there is much point, as I am guessing the meeting is o! n Monday.

  Cheers,

  Neil
