Hello All,
Congratulations on your hard work and effort. I have had the pleasure of meeting
and working with all of you. I would rather have meet 1000 peoples personalities
and outlooks from the yes side then 999 personalities and outlooks from the no
side. The Citizens' Assembly was an experience I will never forget but what came
after was comparable. What you learned and experienced from this campaign will
follow you in your future endeavors. Don't let not winning this campaign eat you
up inside. You have planted great seeds of knowledge in the general public. I
don't think you should give up the idea of changing the political politics of
Ontario or Canada, but you should set it aside and hold the politicians
accountable under the current system for more important things, like the
environment. This is where I think we as a whole society need to focus our
attention on now, before it is too late, and personally I think you will find a
whole lot more people backing you up.
Marcia Soeda
Citizens Assembly member

>I do think however that we must have made some inroads in educating the
electorate about the injustices and travesties within our current FPTP electoral
system. For an ethically deficient electoral system such as FPTP to be as
successful as it was in last night's referendum, it must need to rest upon a
broad base of ignorance. Such is the case of, what many 19'th century
philosophers refer to as, "the vulgar herd."

>Ignorance and those corrupted and intoxicated by the disproportionate
distribution of power within FPTP, along with their scare-mongering propaganda
machine, are the foes to be overcome. Reason must, in the end, prevail.
>

>In my opinion, some strategic mistakes in the electoral campaign for electoral
reform were: toning down the rhetoric to "Make Democracy Better" rather than
"Where's The Democracy?", proposing a compromise mixed system wherein
comparisons of elected and unelected member scenario's are endless instead of
pure PR wherein all members are elected equally the same way.

and know you all and I do hope we stay in touch somehow Sharing your thoughts,
ideas and convictions has strengthened my resolve. Thanks.
