[fvc-wat-disc] New Mandate Letter for the Hon. Karina Gould

HI, Sharon

Thanks for the rallying cry and the opportunity to meet to plan our next moves.

I emailed Trudeau to let him know how I feel about how he has misconstrued the message Canadians have given, to give him an excuse to abandon electoral reform.

Mo and I are going to have to rethink what we will say to Raj at our meeting on Feb. 24.

CAthy

Hello All,

Today's news is more than a disappointment of course but the day Monsef introduced "looking for a broad consensus from Cdns. to make electoral change" to the process was the day the writing was on the wall. Weasel words par excellence from which much obfuscation, side stepping and plain old lying has arisen. This has always been about leadership and Trudeau chose (pressure from caucus?, the LPC leadership? who knows what) to serve his party rather than Cdns.& our democracy. For this he deserves (fill in the blank :) )__________.

We have played very nicely in the sandbox with the Liberals for many years and we are now liberated from that restriction if we choose.

I suggest that we take a few days to calm ourselves & meet early next week to re-group and re-tool. My house, 7 pm next Monday? Tuesday or Wednesday are also possibilities.

This is by no means over. Actually, we are just getting going.... :)!

Cheers,

S.

It won't make any difference. You are wasting your time,

Just don't bother to give them money and vote for them or
renew your membership.
It's none of their business to know anyway.

Jennifer and Sharon and other people who have worked on
Liberal campaigns in the past have more leverage than those
of us who just voted strategically for the Liberals (or
those who did not vote for them at all). In addition to
being delightful people they have good connections within
the party. There are other disaffected Liberal campaign
organizers as well.

Is there any sense in FVC (or LeadNow, or somebody) putting
together a pledge/petition signed by people who donated
money or worked for Liberal campaigns in the past? This
pledge would state that these campaign workers/funders are
withdrawing their support for the federal Liberals in the
next election. My previous cynicism still stands, but maybe
promising not to organize on behalf of Liberal candidates
means more than promising not to vote for them.

I called Raj Saini's office (and got through to a human,
which was a
miracle) and expressed my discontent. I also talked to
somebody who worked on Saini's campaign and asked him to
express his. Saini and the other local Libs know that they
are in a hotbed of electoral reform, and they are probably
expecting the backlash. But we can at least flood their
phones for a couple of days with our threats.
