HI, Donald

I would like to vote for Charlie, as I think he has a good track record and talks in a straight forward way; lots of experience and well-informed,

But Charlie’s commitment to electoral reform and PR, doesn’t seem as strong as Guy’s, so I think I have to vote for Guy.

After reading http://www.fairvote.ca/ndp-leadership-race/ on Anita's post, I don't like Charlie's promise of a referendum after 2 terms of PR ... New Zealand did that because the National Party had committed to do so before the election ... I don't trust the Canadian electorate to inform themselves even after 2 terms ... if MMPR is in the platform, then election gives the mandate, although one might argue that it only holds if a party WINS the election.

Once MMPR is implemented, it can still be reversed without a referendum IF the electorate elected a majority C or L government ... not likely, but possible, so nobody can claim that there is no way out.

Dave, in answer to your question about 'sources' ... I was referring to my political mentors, Jenn and Sharon, who do a lot of research ... not to a sinister guy in an underground parking garage ... I'm not super connected to any anonymous sources ... BTW one of the TIFF movies stars Liam Neeson playing "Deep Throat" in the Watergate Crisis ... it will be good.

I watched the whole debate at the NDP event at the Duke of Wellington.

I was disappointed that the PR question was brief and only involved Singh and Caron.

We’re left wondering what the others’ commitments are .

Has Fairvote done a thorough study of the four candidates’ stances and plans to move PR along?

Don, you say from all sources Caron is the most committed.

Is there agreement on that?

And, while all four said similar, good things about many issues, who is most likely to capture Canadians’ attention and confidence?

Is there another Jack Layton out there?

Be sure to watch, so we can pick the best leader for PR

If you want to get right to the PR question, move the slider to approximately the middle

Guy Caron reiterated his commitment and asked Jagmeet Singh what he planned to do ... Singh admitted that Caron's plan was good and that he himself had yet to place his electoral reform plan on his website. Singh gave excellent reasons for MMPR but it seems insincere if he hasn't placed it on his site. Neither Charlie nor Niki commented, but the Vancouver debate rules didn't allow that.

But from all sources, Caron, in my opinion, is the most committed to PR.

cheers,

Don
