Hi, All
JIm mentioned about whether we are going to do anything to mark this day.
Here are some guidelines, suggestions from Anita, which we can discuss at
the meeting tonight
Cathy

*We need to do a couple of things to build for future:*
*1) Put this in the context of 100 years of inaction.*

That's the theme this year. It's not just about Justin Trudeau (and NDP and
Greens who are still mad).

It's about 100 years of cycles of politicians admitting the problem when
they're not in power, but not being willing to do anything when they are in
power. And of so many experts identifying the problems of winner-take-all
voting that persist and are getting worse: Polarization, divisiveness, etc.

*2) We the people - including Liberal voters and those who love Justin
Trudeau - want a solution to strengthen our democracy.*

We want Trudeau to deliver it.

So we don't end up like the US - that's an emotional hook for more people
and it's current.

In order for us to share stuff as FVC:

*a) It's the tone of the memes that matters, and making them either big
picture or forward-looking.*

It's a fine line. And I know I should have paid attention to this BEFORE!
Again, my apologies.

If the main message is that it's just showing Trudeau was a
phony/liar/dishonest/ridiculous etc, then I'm going to ask that you *not
share it from a FVC associated account.*

*Of course you can tweet/share what you want as an individual and I have no
doubt many will pick it up that way! **I will do that as an individual,
too. *(Honestly on facebook I get more shares sometimes on stuff I post to
my 700 friends than posting the same thing to the FVC wall with 36,000 fans
because facebook's algorithm now makes sure almost nobody sees our stuff
unless we pay for it).

The video Paul made is fine for me to share as FVC. Nancy has also made one
with the same script and different style and I'll share that from the FVC
account, too. The theme there isn't anger or Justin the dishonest, it's
about we want Trudeau to leave a positive legacy, attaching it to history
and the big picture, ending with an appropriate call to action.

*b) We need a mix of memes, so it's not disproportionately about Trudeau*.

I know that doesn't get as many shares but look at it this way. What's
better?

- 100 still-pissed-off NDP and Greens to share an anti-Trudeau meme
rehashing the exact same points from four years ago that turns off Liberals
we need on board
OR
- a meme that doesn't go as far but the idea reaches someone new we need to
reach?

The Liberals lied and disappointed and betrayed us is still an important
fact and message for us, but the *context* matters.* I use it in emails to
get our people (who are NDP and Greens) motivated to do something, for
example!* And coming from grassroots citizens to show they haven't
forgotten is okay :)

I hope this makes sense!

Anita
